‘아르바나’는 납작펜과 스카펠 나이프의 특성이 담긴, 날카로우면서도 부드러운 인상을 지닌 휴머니스트 스타일의 바이 스크립트 글꼴입니다. 아르바나는 한글 부리 글꼴 디자인을 붓이 아닌 서양의 쓰기 도구들로 써본 형태를 상상하면서 시작되었습니다. 필획의 섬세함을 유지하는 선에서 날카로운 형태를 부드럽게 나타내고자 했고, 디자이너의 손글씨 느낌을 일부 자소에 반영하였습니다. 예를 들어, 받침 니은과 리을에 있는 약간의 굴곡은 캘리그라픽 흘림의 형태를 차용함과 동시에 작업자의 이름에 들어간 자음을 강조하여 본문에 개성을 부여하고자 했습니다. 아르바나는 제 6회 방일영재단 글꼴창작지원공모에 선정되었습니다. Arvana is a typeface using both Hangul and Latin scripts. It possesses some western calligraphic features but has grown around a strong Hangul brush core. Its shapes and details take a slightly more Latin calligraphy direction which gives a more humanistic feeling to the text. Arvana assembles a set of razor-sharp edges and shapes with elegant dynamic curves. The typeface aims to create an elegant and refined style. Arvana won the 6th Bang il young Cultural Foundation Fund Competition for Hangul typeface in Korea.
